Life Academy community members are biking with Ride for a Reason (R4R) to support our school and others in Oakland & Alameda.
We know the past couple of years has been challenging and impacted each of us in very different ways. As we enter 2022, our team is determined to make this a better year -- a better year for our kids. So, that's why we've signed up to Ride, Walk and Run 4A Reason to raise much needed funds for public schools in Oakland. COVID-19 has forced our teachers and kids to adjust to a new way of learning, one that has been challenging and difficult, especially for those schools where disparities are great.
Last year, Life Academy used R4R funds to support families directly (distributing around $8,000 every month in microgrants), distributing basic healthcare supplies, important materials to support at-home learning during this shelter-in-place, and funding opportunities via virtual internships, clubs, and extracurricular programs to keep our students engaged and healthy. “R4R funds are a CRITICAL means for Life Academy to stay responsive and nimble in these incredibly tough times. Schools are not just simply institutions of learning but rather community hubs for support, resources, and connection.”
If you can, join the Life Biohazards on the ride to Sacramento on April 23rd. There are 45-, 66-, and 110-mile distances for the ride, and also an option for a virtual walk/run/ride. Sign up and help the Life Biohazards amass a mighty chest of coin for the common good. If you can't ride, but your current financial situation is comfortable, consider giving a tax-deductible donation to help us reach our fundraising goal!
Our goal is to bike/run/walk a total of lots of miles between April 1-23, 2022 and to raise $5000 for public schools.
Ways to Support:
1. Sign up to ride with us!
2. Donate to a rider from the Life Biohazard Team.
3. Blast your networks and tell all the awesome people you know!
Thanks so much for helping us in our efforts to provide much needed resources to our public schools!
