On April 25, 2026, I’ll be riding my bike to Sacramento with hundreds of other community members, parents, educators, and middle and high school students as part of Ride 4A Reason—a 100-mile ride to raise money and awareness for public schools in Oakland and Alameda.

Oakland has been my home for 10+ years. I’ve had the privilege of knowing incredible teachers and students who show up daily with dedication, creativity, and resilience, despite working within a system that too often underfunds them. Education is more important than ever, and I believe all students deserve access to joyful, enriching learning experiences. The impact of education ripples out into the larger community, and we all benefit from a strong educational foundation for generations to come.

Over the past few years, we’ve seen how deeply inequities are baked into our education system. Now, as short-term funding has dried up and schools face even greater challenges, I’m more committed than ever to supporting the people and programs that help students—and thus our wider community—thrive.

Thanks to last year’s ride, more than 6,000 kids at eleven public schools went on field trips, visited school libraries, experienced the awe of river rafting, and wore team uniforms—many for the first time. Every child should have these kinds of opportunities, and this ride helps make that possible.

This is Ride 4A Reason’s 18th year on the road, and over that time, they've raised over $2 million for Oakland and Alameda public schools. I’m proud to be part of this effort.

My goal, along with a team of two of my close friends, is to raise $3,000 before I hop on my bike—can you help me get there?

Every dollar we raise goes directly to these local public schools.
