Dear friends, family, and community,
Public education is under attack — again.
Despite the tireless efforts of our educators, chronic underfunding and recent budget cuts continue to undermine the support our students need to thrive. Across Oakland, classrooms are being stretched too thin, vital programs are on the chopping block, and teachers are being asked to do more with less every single day.
But educators keep showing up for their students and for our community. Now it’s our turn to show up for them.
We’re raising funds to directly support Oakland public schools to provide essential resources, protect enrichment programs, and ensure every student gets a fair shot at success. Your donation goes where it’s needed most and sends a clear message: our public schools matter, and we will not let them be dismantled.
Last year, thanks to the riders and supporters of Ride 4A Reason, more than 6,000 kids in eleven public schools in Oakland and Alameda (including my school, Oakland Tech!) had field trips, got to visit their school libraries, experienced the awe of river rafting, and wore official team uniforms for their sports teams -- for many, these were firsts.
This is the 17th year that R4R will be making the trek to Sacramento and I’m proud to be part of it. Over this time we have raised close to $1.8 million for public schools in Oakland and Alameda.
My goal is to raise $500 by the time I hop on my bike on April 25th - can you donate today to help me get there? 100% of the funds I raise will go directly to these public schools in Oakland and Alameda. Please consider donating $10, $50, $100 or more to help me get there!
Thank you so much!
