Thank you

I am overjoyed at the amount of progress that has been made in my Myeloma research since I was diagnosed. 20 years ago, when I was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, there was one standard chemotherapy, one way of doing bone marrow transplants, and low life expectancy. today, there are dozens of chemotherapy regimens being used, multiple ways of utilizing bone marrow transplants, car- T cell therapies and other immunotherapy options. Treatment plans are being created based on a person’s genetics, disease mutations, their overall health and wellness, and many other factors.

But while the progress is real, there is still no cure. I lost two friends to this disease in 2025 alone. Until this disease has a cure I will continue fundraising to support research and participating in this event to raise awareness. And when a cure is found I’ll come back for the party! 🎉

Please join me in supporting multiple myeloma research by making a donation to my page, my team’s page, or anyone else participating in this event. 100% of your donation will directly support multiple myeloma research at Fred Hutch.

THANK YOU!

What is Multiple Myeloma?

Multiple Myeloma is a cancer of plasma cells found in bone marrow.  Normal plasma cells help the immune system fight disease, but when plasma cells become cancerous they grow out of control and can produce a tumor called a plasmacytoma.  If someone has more than one plasmacytoma, they have multiple myeloma.

Why support this event?

Defeat Multiple Myeloma’s mission is to raise awareness of multiple myeloma while supporting research that seeks to discover new treatments, improve the quality of life for myeloma patients, and ultimately find a cure for this devastating form of cancer. Funds from the 2024 Defeat Multiple Myeloma event will continue to support immunotherapy research and clinical trials at Fred Hutch which are using CAR-T cells and have shown very promising early results for patients.
