Tiger was diagnosed with Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) in November 2017, after he suffered a seizure while playing with his sister at a park in Mumbai, India. That day marked the beginning of a journey with a condition we had never even heard of. We were told that the only available treatment for ALD was a bone marrow transplant (BMT).
After weeks of searching, we were unable to find a matching donor. Desperate for options, we reached out to the University of Minnesota, connecting with their doctors through emails and phone calls. In January 2018, Tiger was enrolled in a gene therapy trial, and he received a successful transplant the following month.
Since then, he has developed some vision and auditory processing challenges, but overall, he’s doing really well. Tiger continues to show incredible strength—and so do we.
We are forever grateful to Dr. Lund and his team for their support, care and hope.
