Go Jean's Angels !!

Hi, I'm Angel, and I am so proud to be participating in the Lahey Cancer Institute Walk. I hope you will support me today in my fundraising efforts!

This event is deeply meaningful to me because

Every year, I lace up my sneakers and join my grandma in the Lahey Cancer walk to honor the memory of my great-grandma, Jean, who lost her battle with cancer many years ago. This annual tradition is more than just a walk—it’s a journey of love, remembrance, and hope. My great-grandma was an incredibly strong woman who faced her diagnosis with courage and grace. She was the heart of our family, and even though she’s no longer with us, her spirit and legacy live on.

Walking with my grandma means everything to me. It’s our special time to reflect, share stories, and feel close to the woman who paved the way for us. Each year, we wear matching shirts with my great-grandma’s name on the back, and we wear her face on the back to symbolize the love that still surrounds us. As we join the crowds of people all gathered for the same cause, I’m always struck by the sense of community and purpose. There’s something so powerful about seeing people of all ages and backgrounds coming together to support those who are fighting cancer and to remember those we’ve lost.

We walk at a steady pace, enjoying the weather, and sharing laughter and tears. My grandma tells me stories about my great-grandma’s favorite recipes and the songs she used to sing. I can almost hear her voice in the breeze as we walk, and it makes me feel like she’s right there with us. Each step is a tribute to her memory and a promise to keep fighting for a future without cancer.

We’ve been doing this walk for as long as I can remember, and it’s become a cherished family tradition. It’s taught me the importance of community, the power of hope, and the impact of honoring those we love. Every year, when I cross the finish line with my grandma, I feel proud of what we’ve done together and inspired to keep making a difference.

This walk isn’t just about my great-grandma—it’s about everyone who’s ever faced cancer and everyone who loves them. It’s a reminder that even though cancer can take away so much, it can’t take away the love and memories we hold in our hearts. And that’s why I’ll keep walking, every year, until there’s a cure.

This event helps support critical services at the Lahey Cancer Institute that help patients and their families receive holistic, comprehensive care as they navigate the difficult journey of cancer treatment.

Your support means the world to me. Thank you!!
