In 1986, Fresno County voters passed Measure C, a half-cent sales tax aimed at improving the overall quality of Fresno County’s transportation system, including the County and all 15 cities within the County. In its first 20 years, Measure C delivered more than $1 billion of improvements to state highways, county roadways, and city streets, along with the construction of over 50 new lanes of Freeway throughout the County. As a result of the successful original measure, in November 2006 Fresno County voters chose to extend Measure C for an additional 20 years; 2007-2027.
