The Epilepsy Foundation of Hawaii (EFH) leads the fight to overcome the challenges of living with epilepsy and to accelerate therapies to stop seizures, find cures, and save lives by providing supportive programs and referrals for individuals living with epilepsy in Hawaii. EFH is the only non-profit organization in Hawaii serving the estimated 14,000 individuals (2,000 children) living with epilepsy and their families.
The Epilepsy Foundation of Hawaii works to provide education and training to schools, businesses, and organizations on seizure recognition, seizure safety, and increasing epilepsy awareness. Since 1971, the Epilepsy Foundation of Hawaii, a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization, has served the epilepsy community here in Hawaii. All funds donated to EFH remain in Hawaii and help fund vital programs including seizure first-aid training, epilepsy educational presentations, art therapy, support groups, ‘ohana outings, the annual epilepsy community education conference in November, and referral and advocacy services.

Epilepsy is the 4th most common neurological condition after migraines, stroke, and Alzheimer’s disease. Epilepsy is more prevalent than autism spectrum disorders, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and cerebral palsy combined. 1 in 26 individuals will develop epilepsy in their lifetime, and 1 in 10 individuals will have a seizure at some point in their life.
