Girls on the Run of Los Angeles County is a nonprofit organization that inspires girls in grades 3 through 8 to be joyful, healthy, and confident. Through a research-based after-school program, participants build essential social-emotional skills while engaging in physical activity, meaningful reflection, and positive peer connections.
Led by trained volunteer coaches, Girls on the Run lessons encourage self-expression, goal-setting, empathy, and resilience. These skills help girls navigate challenges both on and off the course, supporting their growth far beyond the program.
At the heart of Girls on the Run is a deep commitment to access and belonging. Programs are offered at schools and community sites throughout Los Angeles County, with financial assistance available so that every girl who wants to participate has the opportunity to do so. Each season culminates in a joyful community 5K celebration where girls practice confidence, perseverance, and teamwork while being cheered on by family, coaches, and community members.
Girls on the Run believes that when girls are supported, encouraged, and given space to grow, they unlock their limitless potential and learn to move through life with confidence and compassion.
