I started working for FAN 8 years ago. I began my journey with this organization as a volunteer angel for the Hope Not Handcuff program that launched in 2017. The launch was only months after I had lost my son, Jason, due to addiction. I was looking for a way to cope, deal, give back. To this day, I learn something new about addiction every single day. I am currently a family recovery coach and I help the families who have a loved one who suffers from substance use disorder. Families need recovery as well. They need guidance on how to deal with the pain of addiction and how it affects their lives.
Those of you that knew Jay also knew that he had a wonderful smile and gave the best hugs ever. You knew that he had a great sense of humor and loved his family and pets. You also knew that he struggled for over 10 years in his battle with addiction.
Addiction can take down a family in a flash. It can highjack the brain of anyone at anytime. It's a killer. It knows no creed, age or socioeconomic background. FAN can help those who struggle with substance use disorder and their families as well. Through it's many programs, resources and community engagement, FAN helps save lives and strives to erase stigma.
Please join our efforts by donating a gift today. Funds for mental health and substance use disorder have faced drastic cuts this year. These cuts have greatly affected FAN's mission. Your gift will help FAN continue it's fight to help those who struggle to find recovery.
