Fighting to find a cure to MFS & all undifferentiated Spindle Cell sarcomas!

Dallas Area Team - We are running at 8:30 am on July 18th. North Dallas park tbd. Will update here and the ND Club of Dallas event page!
Tulsa Area Team - We are running on June 27th! Meet at the Jenks Bridge parking lot at 8 am. We will cross the bridge, go left down Riverside and then back again for our 5k. Hope to see lots of people there!
SHIRTS: We have shirts! Would you like a FIFS shirt? Great news - we can get you one! We have a few color options and styles, contact Taylor Wilson or Somer Johnson for more details and to place an order. Thank you to our close family friend, Rebecca Rover, for helping us raise money for a cure! All proceeds will go to the Sarcoma Foundation of America and the Race to Cure Sarcoma. Check out our new Order Form here!

In a nod to Adam living in Colorado and being an official team doctor for the US Ski & Snowboard teams, we asked our dear friend, Arielle Smith, to design the logo with skiing in mind. The yellow sarcoma awareness ribbon turns into skis at the bottom and two ski poles cross behind the ribbon. The leprechaun hat sitting on the head of the ribbon denotes our connection to the University of Notre Dame and the support we are receiving from our alumni community. As Fighting Irish alumni, we hope to gather others to answer the University's question "What would you fight for?" with a loud and unified voice - fighting for a cure for sarcoma!

Updated 5/18: Over the weekend, we celebrated Axel's first birthday and we passed $5500 raised! We've decided to up our goal yet again - so help us get to $7,500 before July 18th!
Update 5/1: On Adam's birthday, we surpassed $4,000 raised! Thank you to everyone that has donated and is helping spread the word about myxofibrosarcoma! Since we are still more than 2 months out from the end of the global fundraising campaign, we are going to up our goal again! Please spread the word and join our team to help fund research on ultra-rare cancers!
Update 4/29: Earlier this month a paper was published by scientists at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center which found success in treating mice with MFS and other genetically complex sarcomas by targeting the Hippo pathway based on inhibition of eIF4A-dependent translation of the key oncogenic transcription factors YAP and TAZ. These experiments, while still in animal testing, give us hope to find new and more targeted treatments for (currently considered) incurable forms of sarcomas! I'm energized by this breakthrough and hopeful for more advancements. But, when you're looking at ultra-rare cancers, sometimes the NIH says there isn't a big enough impact on the population to fund it. Running this race, walking this race, participating in spreading awareness, and donating to our fundraising efforts will help us financially support the work being done at MSKCC, Kyoto Univ. CCII, MDA's SPORE, and all other sarcoma research centers around the world.
When you donate to our team, Fighting Irish Fight Sarcoma, or you join our team in the race, we will send you some FIFS stickers including a Fight for Adam sticker. We are also working on buttons and other options. Let us know what you'd prefer to use to spread awareness of our fight against sarcoma!
Thanks to the Race to Cure Sarcoma events, SFA has invested over $20 million in sarcoma research, funding over 200 grants in 12 countries leading to close to 200 total publications, adding to the sarcoma research discourse. This has led to $26 million+ in additional funding, 10+ clinical trials with 5 additional pending, and 2 patents. Your investment in the RTCS events, is an investment in saving lives.
In January of 2026, Adam (ND Class of 2005 and US Snowboard Cross team doctor) was diagnosed with Myxofibrosarcoma / Spindle Cell sarcoma, which is a soft tissue sarcoma and part of a group of undifferentiated sarcomas. Sarcoma makes up only 1% of cancers in the US, and of course his subtype is considered "ultra-rare". We joke with him that he always has to be the best/top percent and now he's doing it again but with cancer.
Taylor spent the last four months learning everything she can about undifferentiated sarcomas, and what is clear to her is that the research and the support for these cancers is incredibly YOUNG. Did you know the oldest sarcoma foundation in the US is only 30 years old?! Taylor is older than sarcoma support! That is crazy to us - so we are here to help change the face of sarcoma research by fundraising to support SFA!

Please join our team and wear your YELLOW while you complete a 5k between now and July 18, 2026. Take a video or picture of your "race" and post it with a link to our fundraiser to help spread the word and find a cure for Sarcoma!

Don't want to run or walk alone? Reach out because we might have other team members in your area and we would be happy to connect you!
