As Dean of the College of Graduate Studies at the Medical University of South Carolina, I am proud to stand alongside the PhD students, trainees, and postdoctoral researchers whose dedication and discoveries are helping shape the future of medicine and innovation.

Many of the lifesaving advances taking place across MUSC and the Hollings Cancer Center begin long before they ever reach the clinic. They begin in research laboratories—where graduate students, trainees, and postdoctoral fellows ask difficult questions, pursue new ideas, test innovative approaches, and work tirelessly to uncover better ways to prevent, diagnose, and treat disease.

These researchers are the engines of discovery. They are investigating cancer, developing new therapies, exploring the biology of disease, and building the scientific foundation that will ultimately improve—and save—lives. Their work requires countless hours of experimentation, perseverance, collaboration, and curiosity.
