More than a decade ago, my journey with cycling and community advocacy began on the open roads of the Battle Against Hunger. Pedaling through those miles, I witnessed firsthand the incredible power of a dedicated group of cyclists rallying together for a critical cause. It wasn't just about the physical challenge; it was about the profound impact a community could make when united against food insecurity. That experience stayed with me, sparking a deep desire to bring that same energy, passion, and purpose back home to our own neighborhoods.
Driven by that vision, a small group of us came together eight years ago to establish the Jersey Shore Ride for Food Justice. What started as a grassroots effort has grown exponentially beyond our wildest dreams. Last year alone, our community rallied in an incredible way, hosting 250 riders and raising a record-breaking $86,000. To date, we have collectively raised over $420,000 to sustain the vital programs at the Trinity Center for Community, proving that when we ride together, the sky is truly the limit.
