Heroes on the Water (HOW) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that
provides no cost therapeutic kayak fishing experiences to
veterans, first-responders, active-duty military members, and
their families. Our volunteer-led chapter holds regularly scheduled events
that improve the lives of it participant while supporting the
community. Our primary modality is kayak fishing, which has
proven cognitive and emotional benefits.
The Tidewater chapter of HOW engages with the community
through local events to build greater awareness of the need
for our first responders, military, and their families to have a
space where they can find peace and comradery on the water.
