My youngest daughter and I are participating in the Hustle S'more for Lions Camp on August 10, 2024. Proceeds from this event support the Wisconsin Lions Camp, which provides a free camp experience to Wisconsin youth and adults who are blind or visually impaired, deaf or hard of hearing, youth and young adults with intellectual disabilities or autism, youth with diabetes, and youth with epilepsy. My two daughters were born deaf in both ears and attended Wisconsin Lions Camp growing up. During this time they created friendships and gained independence. I absolutely loved picking them up at the end of their week at camp and seeing the smiles on their faces. The memories that were made are priceless. Being with peers that can relate to their situation was one that many cannot relate to. It is a place they felt “normal." It is a place I am forever grateful for.
