My mom and I are participating in the Hustle S'more for Lions Camp on August 10, 2024. Proceeds from this event support the Wisconsin Lions Camp, which provides a free camp experience to Wisconsin youth and adults who are blind or visually impaired, deaf or hard of hearing, youth and young adults with intellectual disabilities or autism, youth with diabetes, and youth with epilepsy. I was born deaf in both ears and attended Wisconsin Lions Camp every summer from 2008 to 2018, from age 7 to age 17. WLC allowed me to bond with other deaf and hard-of-hearing youth while connecting with nature. My cherished memories from WLC have been integral to creating my deaf identity as I know it today.
