Lake Michigan RTS

The toughest race you'll ever love returns on July 18, 2026!

Lake Michigan RTS combines Road, Trail, and Sand to provide a truly unique 10k race experience along the Lake Michigan shoreline. Whether you’re a road racer looking to mix things up a bit, an avid trail runner, or just a running adventurer, this race has something for you. The best part? All proceeds benefit P.O.R.T. through Corewell Health Helen DeVos Children's Hospital Foundation.

The mission of P.O.R.T. (Pediatric Oncology Resource Team) is to provide and promote compassionate, personalized support to families of children diagnosed with cancer or a life-threatening blood disorder.

Start and Finish

There will be one start at 8:30am and runners will finish at the same location as the start line.

Parking opens at 7:30am.

Course

Please be aware that this is a challenging race - it will start out on the road, head into hilly trails, and through soft dune sand at a steep incline. Participation by those younger than 16 is discouraged.

Much of the Lake Michigan RTS course runs through private property. We are granted easement for the event only. Out of respect for the privacy of the landowners, we are not permitted to publish a detailed course map.

On Course Water/Hydration:

All participants are required to carry their own hydration during the race. There will be water to fill your bottle/hydration system at the start of the race, but participants are encouraged to come with a fully filled hydration system. Water will be available at the finish line.

It can be very hot on the course - especially in the dune bowl. Participants MUST have a hydration system, water bottle, or other method to carry water with them in order to be allowed to start the race.

You do not need to know your race number, just tell us your name. You may pick up for friends or family, but must be able to verify their birth date.

Your event shirt is ordered specifically for you! To maximize our donation to P.O.R.T. we order very limited extra quantities, therefore we cannot guarantee any shirt size exchanges.

Parking

Please note that you cannot enter parking from the north on 66th due to the road being closed at 144th and 66th for the race. Please come to the intersection of 66th St and 142nd Ave from either the east or the south.

Refund Policy

Because we need to plan ahead in order to offer a great participant experience while raising money for P.O.R.T. we are not able to issue any refunds for registration of this race. If the race is cancelled due to weather, or at the recommendation of local officials, refunds will not be issued.

Transfers

If you have registered for the event but are not able to participate, you may transfer your registration to another participant. This can be a gift to them or you can have them pay for their spot and you will receive a refund. You must transfer through your RunSignup account or contact the race. Unofficial transfers (for example, paying cash to someone for their bib) will not be accepted.

NOTE: Participating while wearing another participant's bib is considered bandit running and will disqualify you from the event, as it poses a danger to you, staff and medical personnel.

Because shirts will be ordered in advance, shirt size changes will not be guaranteed with transfers.

No deferrals will be accepted.

How to do a transfer:
1. Go to www.runsignup.com and sign in if you are not already.
2. Click the profile image on the top right and go to "Profile".
3. Scroll down and find Lake Michigan RTS under your upcoming events.
