Trooper Robert M. Burney became a member of the New York State Police on March 20, 1989. He entered into disability retirement from the New York State Police after 27 years of service on January 2, 2017. On December 9, 2023, he died as a result of colon cancer stemming from his assignment to the World Trade Center site, following the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. In response to the events of 9/11, Trooper Burney was assigned to aid with the search and recovery efforts in New York City, as part of the New York State Police Detail. Trooper Burney is survived by his mother, brothers and sister.

Captain Christopher J. Garrow became a member of the New York State Police on October 30, 2000. On June 12, 2023, he died as a result of pancreatic cancer stemming from his assignment to the World Trade Center site, following the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. In response to the events of 9/11, Captain Garrow was assigned to aid with the search and recovery efforts in New York City, as part of the New York State Police Detail. Captain Garrow served the Division of State Police for 22+ years and was last assigned to Troop B, Zone Headquarters in Lewis, New York. Captain Garrow resided in Peru, New York and is survived by his wife and two daughters.
