Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to Ride 4 a Reason, the annual bike ride from Oakland to Sacramento (110 miles). April 2026 marks 10 years since I first did R4R.

I ride to support our local public schools: our two kids are OUSD students!

A decade ago, I undertook R4R as a new physical challenge: riding far longer than I ever have before, over 100 miles! R4R has inspired me to set and achieve new goals! 

Since 2016, I've become a triathlete. I've ridden and camped from Oakland to my childhood home in Santa Monica.

Last year, I even rode my bike from Oakland all the way to Reno, conquering the Sierra Nevada mountains in an epic 12-hour day that involved over 9,000 feet of climbing. This year, I plan to continue my ride, going from Reno to Salt Lake City.

Today, hundreds of cyclists journey from Oakland Sacramento to raise funds for our beneficiary public schools. 

The schools use these funds for the necessary basics: library books, sports equipment, art education, after-school programs, science equipment, and staff salaries for counselors, librarians, and reading specialists.
