Thanks for checking this out!
The LOWVELO26 Ride will mark the one year anniversary of beating cancer and completing chemotherapy. I'm excited to be back on the bike and working towards a healthier me while also providing hope for those who are and will be experiencing situations similar to mine. I was diagnosed with Stage 3B colon cancer on March 24, 2025 (my wedding anniversary!). It came as quite a surprise and I’m fortunate to have discovered it when we did. A few months later and it would have spread to my lungs, liver, and other organs.
After a successful surgery to remove the mass and a portion of my colon, we found that a few of my lymph nodes were carrying traces of the cancer to other organs and opted for 8 rounds of chemotherapy over 6 months. I received infusions of one drug every three weeks and swallowed countless pills that made me feel worse every day. But it did the trick! With the tremendous support of my friends, family, work family at Martin’s BBQ Joint, “village”, and amazing wife, Hannah, I was able to overcome a very difficult part of my life.
As a cancer survivor who is currently showing no signs of disease, I have come to appreciate all of the amazing research and efforts that have gone into finding a cure for cancer. I am here today because of the work that was done before me.
As I began to regain my strength and stamina, I became motivated to get back on the bike and was made aware of this awesome ride that does so much to support cancer research. Please join me in fundraising so that others may have a brighter future as well.
Want to help? Make a donation today! The process is fast, easy, and secure... and 100% of the dollars I raise will benefit lifesaving cancer research at MUSC Hollings Cancer Center! To learn more about how your dollars are helping the fight against cancer, visit the LOWVELO Impact page.
