This year, on August 3rdand 4th , I will celebrate my 18th PMC!! Over the past 17 years, I have ridden over 3000 miles, and raised over $150,000, all going to the cause than saved my life 20 years ago. I know I said last year would be my last, but I after getting back to the regular ride, I need to continue to have this weekend in my life!
For a little background on my story, in December of 2004, I was diagnosed with testicular cancer. It was a challenging time emotionally, physically, and financially. I was very fortunate to have made it through that difficult time, due to the unbelievable care I received at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Brigham and Women's Hospital. Now, over 20 years later, I feel great and cherish every day I get to spend with my wife Michele, and my daughters Madison and Meaghan.
This year, I am dedicating my ride to my aunt who just recently passed, Betty Murphy. When you look in the dictionary, and look under "warrior", you will see her picture. Battling lung cancer for over 10 years, she never missed a beat and was always helping others. She made a strong cup of coffee and and a weak cup of Kool-Aid (🙂). She will be missed terribly, but her memory is engrained in all of us. Give Uncle John and Billy a great big hug for us all!!
I also carry the names of family, friends, family of friends, and friends of family on my jersey as I ride. if there is anyone you would like for me to add please let me know. See you the first weekend in August!!
