Friends,
Did you know that exactly half of my teeth are fake? Okay, only two are actually fake, but I have crowns on half of them due to lack of access to consistent, quality dental care as a child. My situation arose from poverty; other children, especially those with complex medical needs or chronic conditions, require treatment above and beyond what traditional dental offices can provide.
In a full circle moment, I'm teaming up with a group of dental students from THE Ohio State University to fundraise for the Nationwide Children's Hospital Dental Clinic in honor of "Dr. Dave," the dental student who performed my first two root canals - when I was 12 - at the University of Buffalo Dental School. I'm especially psyched to officially fundraise for the Children's Champion program after supporting the marathon in a staff/team role for so many years.

My personal fundraising goal for this program is $1000. Any contribution you can make is greatly appreciated and will help keep other children from cracking teeth on bagels, making their own temporary fillings out of gum, and being more embarrassed than afraid of the dentist for years to come. Nationwide Children's Hospital is proud to treat patients from 50 states and over 60 countries.
