Riding to support my wife's battle with terminal Uterine Cancer.

Why I ride is personal. My wife of 51 years has been battling Uterine Cancer for almost 3 years, there is no cure .

As a retired Oncology Nurse, I have treated and fought along side so many wonderful friends and families.   I now have the most important patient of my life, my wife of 51 years, Debbie. Never did we expect to have to be fighting this battle. We have been avid fighters and supporters against of all cancers since I became a medical professional in the mid 80's.  We joined fundraising groups through athletic events and have been participating ever since both with funding and participating in marathons, runs, walks and now cycling and every other means of fundraising.

Debbie was able to be treated in one of the research trials that Pedal the Cause is funding.  Unfortunately the clinical trial we were in had no positive effect on Debbies cancer and we were removed from the study. Currently there is no screening test for, or cure for Uterine Cancer. Debbie and I feel very strongly positive about research. Even if it didn't help us, we know and hope that it may help someone else. We are hopeful that the lack of testing and a cure can be discovered through our support of Pedal the Cause. We are still fighting and now trying our 7th regimen of chemotherapy and immunotherapies.

Please consider donating to our pages to help us fight this disease and to give hope to people in the future. We strive for a World without Cancer! Debbie will continue to fight  with all of her strength and determination. If you know her then you know she will never give up!! It is one way for me to help her fight this cancer. Nothing has been  harder for me, a caregiver by profession, to not be able to help his own loved one!!!

I am proud to join Pedal the Cause in the fight against cancer. Pedal the Cause is more than the region's largest cancer fundraiser. It's a way of life, a celebration, a family and a movement fueled by the courage to end cancer.

Please support my efforts by donating to my fundraiser, and give with confidence knowing that 100% of your donation will fund lifesaving cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children's Hospital.
