In 2021, I founded the team Mind Over Matter with Colorado Cancer League's Race for Research. My fundraising with this organization is in honor of my cousin Jen Simon, who has been bravely battling multiple forms of brain cancer since 2020.
I began working with the cancer league when I was 12, just after Jen was diagnosed with her first tumor - a grade 3 astrocytoma. Jen has been a lifelong role model of mine, and encouraged me to pursue all of my interests. She never let her diagnosis define or limit her, which inspired me to help fundraise and support cancer research. I chose to fundraise with the Cancer League of Colorado because 100% of all donations go directly to cancer research and treatment. That year, I raised $12,000. Unfortunately, Jen is now bravely battling a grade 4 glioblastoma. I am more dedicated this year than ever to raise money to support this incredible organization and help people in situations similar to Jen's. Please join my team by donating online or running with me in Washington Park on Sunday, August 17!
