Sharon's Ride.Run.Walk San Diego is a 15-mile Bike Ride or 5K Run/Walk that is very important to me. I am raising money to help The Epilepsy Foundation of San Diego County so they can provide wraparound support services and programs at no cost to individuals and families affected by epilepsy. Join the movement that brings our community together to educate, spread awareness and make a difference for the people we love who live with epilepsy. Public misunderstandings of epilepsy cause challenges that are often worse than the seizures.
Epilepsy is more than seizures. Every story matters in this fight. Here is my personal story of WHY this matters...
Sergio brought so much joy and peace to our lives, and we are so proud of him because he had many goals, and though he faced challenges, he never gave up on what he had set his mind to accomplish. After many setbacks due to epilepsy, he still managed to get into his dream career field. He also became a father, and though it broke our hearts that he didn't get a chance to meet his daughter Julieta, she is a bright, shining light in our lives, just as Sergio was.
Sergio should still be with us. SUDEP took him from us. We hope families of those with epilepsy are aware of the risks because we were not.
Sharon's Ride.Run.Walk is our way to celebrate Sergio's life because Sergio enjoyed working out and being active. He also loved spending time with family. He would be proud of us for honoring him this way.
We hope to help raise awareness and spread Sergio's light and positive energy.
