What is Bike the Park?
Bike the Park is a non-competitive youth bike ride designed to give kids a fun, confidence-building introduction to cycling. The focus is on participation, movement, and enjoying the outdoors in a safe, supportive environment.
Who can participate?
Bike the Park is open to youth participants of all abilities. There are no age groups or competitive divisions. Every child is encouraged to ride at their own pace.
Is this a race?
No. Bike the Park is a fun ride, not a race. There are no rankings, timing, or awards. Every participant is celebrated for showing up, giving it a try, and having fun.
Can parents ride with or run alongside their child?
For safety reasons, parents and guardians are not permitted to accompany participants on the course. Families are encouraged to cheer participants on from the designated finish area.
What is the course like?
The course follows a clearly marked route through the park and includes a mix of paved paths and grassy sections. Participants should expect gentle hills, turns, and other natural park conditions that are all part of the riding experience.
How is the course supervised?
Participant safety is our highest priority. The course will be:
- Clearly marked from start to finish
- Staffed by volunteers positioned throughout the course
- Monitored by event staff to help guide and support participants
What should participants wear?
- Comfortable athletic clothing
- Closed-toe athletic shoes
- A properly fitted bicycle helmet (required)
- Weather-appropriate layers
What should participants bring?
- A bicycle in good working condition - NO SCOOTERS, TRAINING WHEELS OR E-BIKESĀ
- A properly fitted helmet
- A water bottle
- Sunscreen, if needed
- A positive attitude and a willingness to try something new
What is the registration policy?
All registrations are final and are non-refundable and non-transferable.
What happens in case of bad weather?
Bike the Park is held rain or shine. If severe or unsafe weather conditions arise, the event may be delayed, modified, or canceled. Any updates will be communicated to registered participants by email and through social media.
Who organizes Bike the Park?
Bike the Park is produced by Jess Belanger and Christina Collins of The Race Collective, the team behind Tri the Park Bedford Hills and Tarrytown. Our mission is to create inclusive, family-friendly outdoor events that inspire kids to get outside, build confidence, and develop a lifelong love of movement.
