2024 Boise River Marathon
 HALF MARATHON - Transportation

UPDATE!!! April 30, 2024

The Why:

Background information: Runners just don't like inaccurate distances and races shouldn't have them. However, on the Greenbelt we're stuck using limited amount of bridges to use as turns to create loops. So... therefore that presents a couple of options.

  • Option A: If you want to have the same line as the start/finish then you'll have to create distance using an out-and-back. And oh, the problems with out-and-backs. Folks either run right past them, or turn around too soon.
  • Option B: Create a separate Start / Finish. You know where the finish will be... so, "Where is the start line?"

For the half marathon runners, we'll use Option B.

The What:
  • Option A: Ride the bus. Park somewhere around Payette Brewing. (There is so much parking but everything is unique. Please use your best judgement. And hey, if you're late there is no valet up close parking for you. Stop doing that. Buses leave at 6.00 a.m. We'll get to Lucky Peak around 6.30 a.m. in time to "Find the Start Line."
    • 5.30 a.m. - Buses Arrive at Payette Brewing.
    • 5.35 a.m. - Boarding Begins
    • 6.00 a.m. - Buses Depart
    • 6.30 a.m. - Buses Arrive at Lucky Peak State Park
    • DO NOT GET OFF THE BUS!!! (While we seem to have nice weather predicted, these will be our safety shelters. See yesterdays sand storm.)
    • UNLESS YOU WANT TO!!! (Please don't leave valuables behind.)
    • 6.40 a.m. - Unload buses.
    • FIND THE START. We will walk to the start.
    • STOP BY GEAR DROP OFF. We'll walk by SoleKIDs Coach Celeste. Please provide your own signature bag to collect back at Payette. (In the outdoor seating section by the front doors.) She'll collect and deliver them to Payette.
    • 6.55 a.m. - We found the start. It'll be a narrow start. (see more info on why we race on a sidewalk over at Boise Marathon's facebook page.)
    • 7.00 a.m. - It's a narrow start. If you're a fast runner, please be near the front as OVERALL awards will be GUN TIME. If you're wanting a less crowded start, we'll use CHIP TIME for Age Group awards.
  • Option B: Drop off. Please know, we've only paid for our parking. If you enter the State Park, you are responsible for paying for that access. We will open up the gates at 6.00 a.m. Please proceed around the long drive to the pay area. Please only use the spaces marked below.

    • Please note, there is a motorcycle rally around 1.00 p.m. that day. If your car is there and you didn't pay, you may get towed.
    • Please do not enter the buses only area.
    • See timeline above and do your best to blend in.

I'll start a Facbook post to encourage folks to fuss/cuss/discuss. Maybe through that, we'll provide more clarity.
