One Day Ride
Description
Online registration Jon & Ken's Most Excellent Adventure is now closed.
Online registration for the One Day Rides will close at 6pm on Thursday 9/27.
The Santa Cruz Sunrise Rotary Ride, now in it's 21st year, is a fun fundraising event like no other. Proceeds go to local organizations serving the youth in our community. The Rotary Ride consists of 2 unique adventures: a 3 day fully supported 200 mile ride, and a 1 day ride with multiple distance options. Both rides culminate at a festive Finish Line Party featuring music, food, fun and friends.
The Three Day Ride - Jon & Ken's Most Excellent Adventure
Jon and Ken created a 3 day adventure that takes riders from the heart of the wine country in Healdsburg, through the beauty of the Russian River, Sonoma Coast, Bodega Bay, Tomales Bay, to San Francisco, over the Golden Gate Bridge and down the coast to Santa Cruz. No large riding experience is needed, only a love for our beautiful state and a desire to have some fun while supporting youth in our community.
The ride is exceptionally well supported including all food, lodging, medical and sag. You can rest assured that you will be able to enjoy every bit of every day, while you do the ride that you want to do. The route incorporates rolling hills, some optional steeper hills, remote seaside riding and in-town riding. More seasoned riders can find great challenges each day, while entry level riders can build their experience and achieve their personal bests.
Day 1 – We take a bus from Santa Cruz to Healdsburg and set out just before lunch to ride 48 Miles to Bodega Bay. Lodging at Bodega Bay and a Meal at the Tides Wharf Restaurant is all included.
Day 2 – Get an early start (and a delicious breakfast) for an 88 mile ride from Bodega Bay to Pacifica. We stay at Pacifica Friday night and eat at Nick’s restaurant.
Day 3 – 64 Miles from Pacifica to Santa Cruz, culminating in a finish line party at Lighthouse Bank downtown where we join up with One Day riders for food, drink, music raffles and auctions.
The ride brings together like-minded individuals committed to supporting our youth, and there are great opportunities for having fun and networking. This is a fundraiser with an all-volunteer crew. 100% of the proceeds go to the charities.
The $375 registration fee covers all rider expenses including transportation to Healdsburg, 2 nights lodging, all meals, snack stops, happy hours, sag and medical support, a commemorative ride T-shirt and admittance to the Finish Line Party.
Riders are required to fundraise an additional $625 (minimum). 100% of which goes to our designated charities. As part of the registration process, you will be guided through the creation of a personal fundraising web page that you can utilize to support your fundraising efforts.
The Three Day ride is limited to only 75 riders and always sells out. Sign up today!

The One Day Ride - The Riverwalk, The Wilder Course & The Swanton Loop
The One Day Ride consists of three courses open to riders of all ages and abilities, and will take place on Saturday, September 29. The courses are fully supported and designed to allow children and adults of all abilities to participate. All three courses begin and end at Lighthouse Bank in downtown Santa Cruz, where you will join up with the triumphant arrival of the Three Day riders for all to enjoy the epic Finish Line Party.
The three courses include:
1. The Riverwalk Course, which avoids traffic on a route along the beautiful San Lorenzo River. Riders will get as much support as they need. Mileage ranges from 0.1 to 2.0 mile loops.
2. The Wilder Course, travelling along the Riverwalk and out to Wilder along Westcliff, to the off-road path. There will be a rest stop at Wilder, which the three-day riders will also be enjoying. This is a 15 mile loop, but can be shortened at any point as it is an out-and-back, which can help encourage people to ride further than they think might usually try.
3. The Swanton Loop Course, a 45 mile ride with a rest stop on Highway One – this is for the more adventurous riders.
While this is a fundraiser, we also want this event to raise awareness of our local organizations that support our youth, and to ensure that the event is accessible and fun for all to promote healthy activities as a way of life. We hope a by-product of the event is to provide partnerships and cross-pollination to ensure we build a complete network of support for future generations.
Registration for the One Day Rides is $10 for participants 18 and under, $25 for 19+. Scholarships are available based on need. Contact Info@SunriseRotaryRide.org for details.
During the registration process all riders will be guided through the creation of a personal fundraising web page that will be used to fundraise for their chosen charity.
