Drumgoole Family Initiatives was established in 2020 as a Georgia 501 c3 to provide housing, training, and development focused on helping youth who are aging out of the foster care system transition successfully into adulthood.
- In Richmond County alone, we found that 208 children entered foster care during the height of the pandemic, and as of 2022, 400 children are in foster care in this region.
- Between 31 percent and 46 percent of former foster children will become homeless by the age of 26 years old.
- Research shows that up to 80 percent of foster children will develop some form of mental illness.
71% of young women who were in foster care are pregnant by age 21.
