Every year Bergen Elite helps host SMR. Any donations will go towards helping support the club and its athletes!
About Bergen: In 2014, Bergen 5k race director Eric Boyce founded the Bergen Elite running club. Hoping to bring the same success he had in growing the Bergen 5k road race, the idea was to create an elite running club in Western NY, which would be comprised of athletes of all abilities, all helping each other attain individual and team goals with a laid back atmosphere minimal supervision and minimal time requirements. The running club would support the race and continue to support the race in hopes of growing the 5km race. Over the course of 1 year, the club has grown to 20+ athletes. In our first year, Bergen Elite has seen a victory in the Rochester marathon relay, a 2nd and 3rd place finish at the USATF Niagara 5k championships, a 3rd place finish at the USATF Niagara xc championships, an athlete taking 3rd place at the Rock’n’Roll Las Vegas Marathon, 2nd place finish at the Erie Marathon, and numerous top finishes by team athletes at other prominent local road races. Now, we are looking to build on this success even further with bigger goals in 2016. Among these goals are to put a full team on the starting line of at least 1 USATF national championship, and to send at least 1 athlete to the U.S. Olympic trials.
