A Cure In Sight™ (ACIS) exists to support people facing Ocular Melanoma (OM), also called Uveal Melanoma—the most common primary eye cancer in adults. Although OM affects a small patient population, with only about 3,000 new diagnoses in the U.S. and 7,000 worldwide each year, its rarity creates significant challenges in research, treatment options, and patient support.

Ocular Melanoma carries a serious prognosis. About half of all OM patients will experience metastasis, and once the cancer spreads, outcomes remain extremely limited. No cure currently exists for metastatic OM. Still, new therapies, targeted treatments, and clinical trials offer growing hope. Advancing these options depends on research, yet research funding for rare cancers remains critically low. Grants are scarce and highly competitive, so ACIS relies on private and corporate donations to sustain programs and drive progress.

A Cure In Sight provides nationwide support by raising public awareness, educating patients and caregivers, funding essential OM research, and offering financial assistance to patients seeking treatment. Continued funding ensures that we can expand these services and respond to the urgent needs of the OM community.

ACIS holds a unique role within the Ocular Melanoma landscape. Our deep connections with leading ocular oncologists and eye cancer specialists strengthen our ability to guide and support patients. Founded by patients and entirely volunteer-driven, ACIS brings together individuals, families, and advocates who fight every day for better outcomes and, ultimately, a cure.
