Now, more than ever, it’s imperative that we nurture children, their well-being, and environmental sustainability through connecting and learning in nature. At Aldo Leopold Nature Center (ALNC), we do this through outdoor, hands-on, childcare programs that lead the way in engaging, educating, and empowering the next generation of stewards of the land for a healthy, happy, and sustainable future. Offering many opportunities for individuals and families to connect with nature, our major focus continues to be providing high-quality, affordable children’s programs, rooted in nature. We strive to expand access to children and families from underserved households and marginalized neighborhoods by subsidizing program costs, including for public school field trips, and by providing tuition assistance. We also host special events that encourage people to step outside and explore our wetland, woodland, and prairie trails, which are free and open daily from dawn until dusk. Stop by the front desk to check out a trailside backpack, or scan the QR codes for a self-guided tour to learn how climate change affects native Wisconsin species. We hope to see you on the trails!
