University of Iowa's Ribbon Run 5K & Relay Fest

Come Relay with us! The American Cancer Society @ University of Iowa student organization is hosting a 5K run and walk event this year before our traditional Relay For Life festivities. Relay For Life has been an annual student event at the University of Iowa for over ten years and this year, we're excited to race for a cure! The 5K starts at 9 am with Relay Fest immediately to follow with a food truck, ceremony speakers, and games!

Location: Hubbard Park, Iowa City, IA

5K path: along the Iowa River Corridor Trail/Lower City Park Trail along the Iowa River 

Race Start Time: 9 am 

Relay Fest: immediately following 5K until 1 pm

BEFORE THE RACE: Ribbon Run participants can pick up their race bib & informational packet at Fitness Sports during their operating hours from Thursday – Friday. Their store is located at 103 5th St, Coralville, IA.  
Race bibs & informational packets that are not picked up from Fitness Sports prior to the race can be picked up at early registration on Saturday. 
DAY-OF ESSENTIALS: 
Ribbon Run Registration will open at 8:15 am on April 27th at Hubbard Park. During this time, all participants will be required to sign a waiver and release form. If you have registered online through RunSignUp, you have signed these waivers during the registration process. 
We encourage runners to wear comfortable running shoes and t-shirt/sweatshirts pertaining to a cancer awareness ribbon of your choosing! For example, gold is for childhood cancer, pink is for breast cancer, lavender is for all cancer types, etc. 
RACE STARTS at 9 am! Please see the race map below. 
There will be water stations and volunteers along the route to assist and cheer you on. 
Look out for directional signs or markets to follow the route. 

AFTER THE RACE: 
All runners, walkers, and members of the community are welcome to join us for Relay Fest from 12 – 2 pm after the race! Relay Fest is our celebration of cancer. survivors in our community. We will have food provided by Maggie’s Farm Wood-Fired Pizza, cornhole tournament, silent auction, and fellow organizations to meet! 
The Ribbon Run & Relay Fest is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. All proceeds benefit cancer research grants (including $2 million in research grants from ACS at the UIHC), lodging services for cancer patients like the Russel and Ann Gerdin Hope Lodge in Iowa City, patient programs across the country, and more.
