Event Description
The Fall Cycling Classic. The European Spring Classics aren't famous for scenery; they’re famous for suffering. This fall, we’re bringing that same raw intensity to the Midwest.
The focus will not be on the beautiful backdrops of the golden farm fields and changing leaves. The pristine, tree-lined farm roads a distant memory. This ride is about the UNROAD—those forgotten sectors of broken pavement, grinding gravel, and raw dirt. The sectors will be announced, rated, and the fastest over each individual sector will earn preme prizes.
Richmond IL is positioned at the crossroads of Chicago and Madison, Milwaukee and Rockford. It shares the famous endless fields of grain of Illinois and the slightly rolling cow pastures of southern Wisconsin.
The Courses
The 100km "Classic" – Our flagship distance. A relentless mix of sectors with varying difficulty. If you want the full "Unroad" experience, this is it.
The Intermediate – The route is currently being scouted and vetted. We’ll announce the final mileage once we’ve found enough grit to fill it.
The 20km "Gravel Taster" – Predominantly gravel. It’s a short introduction for those looking to see what the Unroad is all about.
With your registration we will make a donation to the repair of the old wooden St George Bridge. One of these years we would like to finish riding over it. Also your registration will donate at least 1 pound of food to the Richmond-Spring Grove Food Pantry. You will have an opportunity in the registration add ons to further support these causes.
Please consider purchasing registration insurance for the event. This is the only path to receive a refund or deferral.

Why Seeds and Stones?
In northern Illinois planting season begins no more than 2 weeks before the final frost. If a field is planted and the seeds begin to germinate, a late frost could destroy a farmers entire crop.
For Waterman Illinois, 90% of the time that final frost is around May 15. This means that planting season begins after Mothers Day.
Seeds & Stones Roubaix marks the birth of a new season. For many it means the beginning of riding outdoors. The only question now becomes, what will your winter training yield at Seeds & Stones Roubaix?
