Description
Calling all cyclists and wellness warriors to break the cycle of stress, anxiety, and burnout!
Imagine you’re riding down your favorite trail, the leaves crackling softly beneath your tires, when you pass a park bench where someone once carved the words “I can’t do this anymore.” You slow down.
Something about that message lingers.
A little further ahead, you see a college student sitting alone under a tree, shoulders shaking, quietly wiping tears away. In a world buzzing with noise, deadlines, distractions, and pressure, moments like this aren’t rare they’re everywhere. The National Institute of Mental Health reports that “approximately one in five adults in the United States lives with a mental illness,” and these numbers continue to rise (NIMH). Even more alarming, the World Health Organization states that depression is now the leading cause of global disability, affecting more than 280 million people worldwide (WHO).
But there is hope real, evidence-based hope. Exercise, especially activities like biking, has been shown to significantly reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression. According to the Mayo Clinic, physical activity “releases endorphins,” improves sleep, and acts as a natural mood stabilizer (Mayo Clinic Staff).
Now imagine another scene.
You’re riding again, but this time you feel the tension easing from your shoulders. Your lungs open. Your mind quiets. The rhythm of the pedals becomes its own kind of therapy. The simple act of movement reminds you that your wellness matters.
That is the purpose of Pedal for Mental Health.
Every mile you ride symbolizes another step toward emotional balance for you and for others. Your participation helps break stigma, inspires community support, and encourages people to reach out instead of staying silent.
So how can you help for free?
Ride. Breathe. Repeat.
Every mile becomes an act of strength and solidarity. Join the Pedal for Mental Health Virtual Ride on November 22 and be part of a movement that truly matters.
