Maine Law 5K Run/Walk

Maine Law has a long history of hosting a local road race and walk in the Portland area. From 1979 to 2013, the law school has hosted an event welcoming students, alumni, faculty, and friends to support . The race has taken various forms over the years; after a long hiatus, we are excited to welcome it back into the community!

This year, Maine Law’s Running Club is bringing back a 5k run and walk to benefit the Maine Association for Public Interest Law (MAPIL). The race is open to all! All of the proceeds for this event will go directly to MAPIL to use for supporting law students interested in working in the public interest sector. Many internships in this field are unpaid, but MAPIL funding allows students to be able to use their legal knowledge to support fellow Mainers, minimizing financial barriers to doing so.

Date: Saturday, September 27th, 2025

Time: 9am start

Location: Back Cove, Portland, ME. The race will start near the parking lot across the street from Hannaford’s. 

Registration Fee: $35 including T-Shirt for first 100 participants. Donations and sponsorships are welcomed! 

Packet Pickup: Same day pickup will begin at 8am at the start by Back Cove. Additional pickup will also be available on Friday, September 26th at the Maine Law building. Time TBD.
