Race Route

The wait is over! We're thrilled to announce the official 2025 5K race route. This year, your journey begins and ends at the scenic Potterville High School track, located at 422 N High St, Potterville, MI.

Your race kicks off on the track, heading South and guiding you under the famous M100 (Hartel) tunnel. As you exit, head left towards Main Street. Once emerged on Main Street, head West passing City Hall before making a right onto Cherry Street. Follow Cherry Street until you reach Vermontville Highway, where you'll make another right, keeping West along the paved bike path. The route includes a crossing of Vermontville Highway near the Lake Alliance walking path, continuing along the railroad tracks. This paved section will lead you Southwest directly to the stunning Lake Alliance Park. Once there, you'll loop around the lake's Northeast corner, signaling the start of your return.

After rounding the Lake Alliance corner, a crushed stone path will guide you into the Lakewood Estate subdivision and onto Tim’s View Street. In the neighborhood, take your first left onto Brenneman Street. Follow this street to Elizabeth Way, turning left to bring you back to Vermontville Highway. Exit right and back onto Vermontville Highway, re-joining the paved bike path. You'll head East on Vermontville Highway, crossing the road where Cherry Street begins. From this point, you'll retrace your steps from the beginning of the race, leading you triumphantly back to the Potterville High School track for an exhilarating finish! Celebrate your accomplishment with a finisher's medal, trophy awards, hydration, and gift bags!

Hydration Station:
Stay hydrated! Our race features one convenient hydration refill station that you'll pass twice. Located on Cherry Street, approximately one mile from the start, you'll first visit it before heading to Lake Alliance and again as you return towards the finish line. Expect enthusiastic volunteers, uplifting music, and refreshing, cold water!

Woof-tastic Course!
We're excited to welcome your furry friends to this dog-friendly course! To keep our route clean and enjoyable for everyone, please ensure your dog's "presents" are picked up and disposed of in the trash cans throughout the course. All canine participants must be on a short leash (no retractable leashes, please). Every four-legged finisher will receive a special medal to commemorate their achievement!

Safety:
We are kindly asking Potterville residents to limit their street parking along the race route. Additionally, the Potterville Police Department and race volunteers will be stopping traffic on Vermontville Highway as needed.

Charity Partners

Potterville is commonly known for its supportive characteristics, connected community and the annual Gizzard Festival.  Due to the historic community involvement, it has created the City of Helping hands identity. Therefore, the City of Helping hands continues by giving back and supporting our local communities.  This year, Another Clucking 5K is expanding our charity partners to three amazing programs: Canines for Change, Potterville High School Track & Cross Country teams, and CASA for Kids, Inc. of Barry, Eaton, and Ingham counties.

CANINES FOR CHANGE

A long-standing charity partner that will continue to be supported as we love our four legged friends and what this organization embodies.  This local organization was originally founded in Grand Ledge, MI, now located in Dimondale, MI and has been providing service dogs to our community and veterans.  Over the years, they have successfully trained and placed diabetic alert dogs, seizure alert dogs, mobility assistance dogs, autism assistance dogs, and facility dogs for school districts.  Participants will have a chance to meet some of the trainers and dogs at the race. We are hoping to have some of the new puppies there as well.

Mission Statement: Canines for Change provides highly trained service and facility dogs that enhance the lives of children and adults with disabilities by empowering them to achieve active and independent lifestyles while also educating the community on the benefits of facility and service dogs through community education and outreach.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What are some of the changes to this year’s race and why?

There are several small enhancements being implemented and enhancing the racers experience is critical. Of course t-shirts and medals are regularly updated each year, other improvements include the race route, racer gift bags, and charity partners. Making race improvements hopefully warrants new and increasing registrations each year. Increasing registrations can further support our amazing charity partners. The race coordinators are already planning new and exciting updates for 2026, so stay tuned!

2. Why is there a new race route?

New race routes can serve a variety of purposes. First, an updated race route provides racers something new, unique, and may allow different obstacles due to the terrain. Secondly, it provides racers to view different scenery and explore beautiful Potterville neighborhoods and parks.

3. What can I expect after the race?

Once a racer passes through the finish line, they will be awarded their medal. Trophies will be given out for first place finishers in each age and gender group. Cold bottled water, cold chocolate milk, bananas and oranges will be available for replenishment. Gift bags will be provided to each racer and included a reusable bag for future shopping needs, electrolytes, and granola bar.

4. Where can I park on race day?

Parking will likely be busy on race day as Gizzard Fest will be up and swinging. There are several events during the 5K which include classic car show, pancake breakfast fundraiser, line dancing and more. The Potterville High School parking lot is a common parking location; however, we kindly ask to pre-plan accordingly.

This section will be regularly updated for the most FAQs.
