Up North Bike Fest Event is now the virtual "Pandemic Pedal"

As with many other events scheduled for early spring, we have been forced to look at alternatives for our event because of the COVID-19 crisis.  After discussions with our sponsors and volunteers we have made the decision to host a virtual bike event for 2020, the Pandemic Pedal. While we will not gather as a group in Northern Michigan, we invite you to ride on your own time on your favorite bike route between June 6th and June 30th and share with us by posting to our social media.  We realize this may not work for everyone, so we are offering 3 different options for riders already registered.  Please select your option as soon as you can and no later than June 5th.  If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us at bikebenzie@gmail.com

Here Are Your Options:

We are excited you chose to participate in the virtual Pandemic Pedal!  The system will guide you to log in and update your profile.  Check your email for more detailed instructions if you are having problems transferring or contact us at bikebenzie@gmail.com

Thank you for donating your registration fee to the Benzie Sunrise Rotary Club!  We appreciate your generosity.  This enables Benzie Sunrise Rotary to continue to fund scholarships and mentoring and literacy programs for theyouth in our area.  We know there will be more requests for our help due to the challenging times we are experiencing.  Thank You!

We hope to see you at next year's ride!

We understand. We hope you can join us next time.

Description

Join us for Bike Benzie’s 12th annual Up North Road and Gravel Event!  It’s a fun event organized by the Benzie Sunrise Rotary Club and hosted by Crystal Mountain Resort & Spa in Thompsonville, Michigan. This event is a day to celebrate bikes, raise money for our community, and promote healthy lifestyles in one of the most beautiful places in the world.

There are some exciting changes for this year, we are now offering 2 events....Gonzo Gravel and the Tasty Tour!

Gonzo Gravel:  For our more adventurous riders we are excited to offer a new gravel race with a short course of 20 miles or a long course of 36 miles. Benzie and Manistee Counties have some great gravel roads, and these courses will challenge both new and experienced gravel riders.

Tasty Tour:  For our road riders we are offering a new 15-mile route, along with our 30, 45-mile and metric century (62 mile) routes—each of these routes showcases the stunning beauty of northern Michigan.

In addition to the best bike course in the state, we offer rest stops with homemade local baked goods, refreshments, and enthusiastic volunteers to cheer you on. After the race, stick around at Crystal Mountain to enjoy our celebration, including barbeque, local craft beer and mead, free showers, live music and much more!

The primary mission of the Benzie Sunrise Rotary Club is to improve the lives and futures of the youth of Benzie County.  We have a strong partnership with the Benzie County Central Schools and the proceeds from this ride fund the many programs and activities that our partnership is built on for the elementary, middle, and high schools. See our website https://benziesunriserotary.org/  for more details about the specific programs that this ride helps to fund.
