2025 Runner Instructions
Thank you for registering for the 2025 Stone Mill 50 Mile Run.
Here is some important information for the race:
Packet Pick-up
Packet pick-up will take place on Friday, November 7 at Silver Branch Brewing Company (7301 Calhoun Pl #600, Derwood, MD) from 5:00-8:00pm as well as on race morning (limited) at the race start (Stedwick Elementary) from 5:00-5:55am. Please have your bib number when you arrive to expedite the process. Your bib number can be found by using the Find a Participant tool on our website. Advanced packet pick-up is highly encouraged. You should expect to wait in line if you choose to pick up on race morning.
Race Day Parking
The parking lot at Stedwick Elementary is reserved for volunteers and participants with 2 or more registered runners (carpool) only. There is plenty of street parking nearby or on Watkins Mill Road and parking is available at the Montgomery Village Foundation (closed on weekends) located at 10120 Apple Ridge Road.
Drop Bags
Drop bags can be dropped off at the start (there will be signs for both drop locations) and will be transported to the aid stations at Pennyfield Lock (Mile 24ish) and Riffle Ford Rd. (Mile 42ish) Please label your bag clearly with your name and bib number and do not use oversized bags, large suitcases, or bins. Bags will be returned to the finish area at Stedwick Elementary.
Early Start
There will be a 5:00am start available for those who need it; however, please note that the school will not yet be open to use the restrooms and volunteers will not arrive until the 6:00am start shift. Participants who choose to start at 5:00am should be very familiar with the course, or be accompanied by someone else who is. Starting at 5:00am must be requested in advance!
Aid Stations
There will be 11 aid stations along the course, all of which guarantee happiness! The race will offer Tailwind Nutrition as fluid, along with water. Each aid station has an experienced volunteer as captain and each set of offerings is unique. If you have special dietary needs, please make a request in advance or plan to carry your own items. We're transitioning to being a cupless race so remember to bring your cup for drinks at the aid station.
Cut-offs
Cut-off times will be enforced, as they are a condition of our permit and out of respect to our hardworking volunteers. Cut-offs will occur as follows:
12:30pm - Pennyfield (26 miles to go)
1:25pm - Stone Mill (23 miles to go)
3:10pm - Rt. 28 (16.4 miles to go)
5:10pm - Riffle Ford (8.4 miles to go)
6:40pm - Rt. 355 (3.9 miles to go)
Finish
We look forward to welcoming you at the finish line with a unique premium. The cafeteria inside the school will be available and bags may be left there all day. There are restrooms available inside the school, but shower facilities are not available. Refreshments will be provided.
We are looking forward to a great day!
