Dear Tour d’Eastside Riders:
As our nation struggles with the COVID-19 pandemic, we strongly support the advice from the CDC to keep crowds to a minimum during this difficult period. The health and well-being of everyone associated with the event led us to this difficult decision that undoubtedly will be disappointing to many. We are canceling our May 17 Tour d’Eastside ride out of Angel Park. We remain steadfast in our efforts to showcase and explore the City's east side; we look forward to hosting the ride again in 2021.
Tour de Troit is committed to continuing our work in raising awareness of biking as a mode of transportation; publicizing the growing greenways network in the City of Detroit and all of Southeastern Michigan; and raising funds for greenway development in Detroit, including the Southwest Detroit Greenlink and the GREEN Taskforce Vision for Greenways on Detroit’s Lower Eastside. As a nonprofit, we rely heavily on the revenue generated from our events such as Tour d'Eastside to continue our work and to support our employees. We humbly ask that you allow us to keep your registration fee as a donation to Tour de Troit as the cancellation of this event will place a considerable strain on the organization's ability to continue this work. If you choose, however, to roll your registration over to 2021, please email email@example.com with your request.
As COVID-19 continues to impact the lives of all of us, we appreciate you understanding our decision. We look forward to riding with you on September 19 at the 19th Annual Tour de Troit. We are excited that this year's route includes a return to Belle Isle and the near east side of the city.
Stay safe and healthy.
