With all the positive feedback, the Keweenaw Chain Drive Festival will be a Poker Run again for 2023! Like last year, riders will have the choice of a short, long, and adventure route. Each route will have multiple poker chip stations at random locations. There will also be an option for kids to participate in the short distance as well. In addition, there will also be a time slot for runners to do the short course! Riders and runners will collect a chip from each location and submit them to find out their poker hand. The best poker hand will win various prize packages! The ride is free to enter. If you would like to make a donation to the trails, you can do so during the registration process or at any time by clicking the Donation button at the top of this page. All proceeds from the donations will go to supporting the Maasto Hiihto/Churning Rapids and Swedetown trails.
NOTE FOR RUNNERS: The designated time slot this year is 11:00 am- 12:00 pm for start time. Trail runners will follow the short course trail markings and plan on a 12-mile loop with 1000ft of elevation gain. The event is also self-supported (no aid stations or sweeps)
Please note that this year's event is self-supported. There will not be any aid stations, and riders will need to navigate the course on their own. Also, please note that the time slots are meant to spread out the start and minimize congestion at the Poker Chip stations. They do not designate which distance you're riding. You can ride any of the three distances in either of the time slots.
More details on the event and how the Poker Run will be handled can be found here.
Register by 11:59 PM on April 21st to take part in the Early Bird drawing. One winner will be chosen from each of the three course distances and will receive a $25 gift certificate from a local bike shop!
We'll have all new courses for 2023! As in past years, there will be a Short, Long, and Adventure route to choose from. Maps will be posted here as soon as the routes are finalized.
Like last year, we will not have a mass start. Riders select their preferred time slot and can start anytime within that window. There are two time slots to choose from and each one has 75 spots available. The timeslots give everyone a chance to go out on their own time and at their own pace. It also helps to avoid bottlenecks on some of the early climbs and helps long lines at the Poker Chip stations. Choose the time slot that works best for you and enjoy a day of riding in the Keweenaw!
