Norwegian Foot March Details 

History: 

First held in 1915 as a test of marching endurance for soldiers in the Norwegian Military. A strategic goal was to be able to move larger units of troops over a great distance swiftly and in a manner that enabled them to efficiently be combat ready even after the march (rucksack/weaponry of 11 kg). 

Test: 

The test consists of a 30 km march (march/run) with rucksack. 

Reward:

Military Service members who complete the Foot March to time and uniform standards will receive the Marsjmerket badge that is authorized for wear on the Army Service Uniform.

NFM Rules

Uniform

All military participants will wear the Army Combat Uniform in the OCP camouflage pattern, or the equivalent service component uniform. This includes the blouse and pants. Combat shirts, unit shirts, or any other top is prohibited--If you cannot wear it to drill, do not wear it here.  The Army OCP-ACU patrol cap or the AR-670-1 compliant fleece cap (with gloves)  are the only authorized headgear for this event. All other head coverings or hats are prohibited to include boonie hats and baseball caps.  Civilian participants will wear appropriate attire  to include military style pants and boots.
