Yes, our course time limit is 3 hours and 30 minutes, or 16min/mile. We offer an early start 1 hour before the normal start for those who would like to take advantage of extra time on the course.
You should be enjoying your National Wildlife Refuge without headphones/earbuds. We understand 13.1 miles is a long ways!
Please be courteous of other runners and wear just one earbud so you can be aware of your surroundings, like a passing runner or a ghost chasing you!
There are 3 on course water stations. They are cup less and self serve with quick pour spouts on the coolers. You must provide your own collapisible cup, bottle or hydration pack.
No, while we love our furry friends our insurance prohibits dogs and animals participating. For the safety of participants dogs are prohibited during the race. Walking dogs on leash at the Refuge is allowed.
Yes, please share a picture of your photo ID and a message "I give permission to ________ to pick up my bib and race swag." with the person who will be picking up race packet.
For the 2025 race, there is no race day regsitration, check-in only. We are SOLD OUT for 2025.
Please add your name to the wait list if you would like the opportunity to run in the event someone drops out prior to race day.
While we don't provide a "gear check" tent, there are multiple tents at the start/finish area to leave your belongings. Race volunteers will be on site the entire time so your belongings will be safe. Your vehicle is also less then 400m from the start line.
Friends of Moosehorn and Bold Coast Runners volunteers take no responsibility for belongings left. All belongings are left at the participants disrection.
Yes, porta johns are located at the start/finish area. There are also two heat bathrooms just up the road at the main entrace. Directions here.
Parking is less then 400m from the start/finish area at the YCC building. Directions here. Parking is the fields as you enter the Refuge. Volunteers will be on hand to assist with neat orderly parking.
All Ghost Run Particpants will get custom Moosehorn Ghost Run Swag. A finishers item will also be awarded to all finishers at the finish line. Bold Coast Runners pride themselves on giving away meaningful swag that you can wear time and time again while being environmentally friendly as possible.
Don’t toss your empty gels, chews, or drink mix packets—RECYCLE them!
At the Moosehorn Ghost Run, we’re collecting all brands of performance nutrition packaging through the TerraCycle Performance Nutrition Free Recycling Program.

We are capped at relatively samll numbers because this is a National Wildlife Refuge. The event cap is 100 partcipants between the Half Marathon and Relay.
Participants must be at least 12 years old to particpate in the Relay and 14 years old to do the solo Half Marathon.
No, the course is not certified. Not quite a road race, not quite a trail race either. Wheel measuring or using a Jones counter on gravel road such as this course on the interior gravel road network would prove troublesome and innacurate. The course is approximately 13.2 miles measured by GPS watch and vehicle spedometer. We promise its not short!

YES! We present awards to our Top Male, Female and Non-Binary particpants in the Half Marathon and Relay. We also present awards to 10 year Age Group winners, and best costume.
The Race Organizers hold the right to make adjustments to awards without notice.

The Bold Coast Runner vibe is chill by the fire with friends enjoying a pot luck! Please bring something to share, like a dessert, side dish, or soup! We have a power source on site for Crockpots.
The usual, coffee, water, gatorade, chips, fruit ect. will be supplied and usually the Race directors wife makes a delicious chicken noodle soup!
Washington County is relatively remote with a smaller "towns". Calais is the closest city with a couple of motels. Eastport is also an option just 45minutes away with beautiful water vistas! If coming from New Brunswick Canada, consider St. Stephen or St. Andrews.
