Description
The NCOBS Collier Lilly Ride is an annual ride to benefit the North Carolina Outward Bound School in honor of Collier Lilly, a rising junior at Davidson College when he was killed in an automobile accident in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where he was employed for the summer. Collier completed an NC Outward Bound course as a recent high school graduate in 1985. The experience ignited in him a deep appreciation for the outdoors and a passion for outdoor adventure. NCOBS challenged Collier in unexpected ways, inspiring him to reach for bigger goal than he had ever imagined.
In memory of Collier, the proceeds from the Collier Lilly Ride for NC Outward Bound School will be given to North Carolina Outward Bound School. Since 1967, North Carolina Outward Bound School (NCOBS) has delivered challenging wilderness adventures that teach more than just outdoor skills. Upholding the same ideals and goals as the first Outward Bound School established in 1941 in Britain, every NCOBS course is built around a progression that delivers powerful life lessons by encouraging participants to safely and confidently step outside their comfort zones and travel in spectacular wilderness areas.
