The Northwest Tandem Rally, NWTR, started in 1986. The annual gathering serves as a celebration of the joy of riding tandem bicycles and a chance to meet and socialize with others of similar interest. It’s all about riding bikes, spending time with old friends and making new ones. NWTR travels each year to a different city around the Northwest region. This year, the NWTR Board of Directors chose Port Angeles, Washington to host the event. The rally will be co-hosted by Ginger and Scott Wierzbanoski of Olympic Bluffs Cidery & Lavender Farm and Lorrie Mittmann of SAG Wagon Events.
Ginger and Scott are both US Air Force veterans and have been stationed all around the world. In 2015 they visited the Olympic Peninsula for the first time during the annual lavender festival and immediately fell in love with the beauty of the land and the spirit of the community. In 2020 they made the peninsula their full-time home. Their new career became creating great cider bringing our community together, so they decided to start a hard cidery and lavender farm. Scott and Ginger have years of experience hosting events, including cycling events.
Olympic Bluffs is a beautiful venue between the mountains and the Strait of Juan de Fuca. It will be the
base of operations, including start and finish of the cycling routes, parking, dry camping, post-ride food and
cider/beer garden, music and vendor expo.
Lorrie Mittmann owned Peninsula Adventure Sports from 2013-2026. She directed running and cycling events all around the Olympic Peninsula before “retiring” and creating SAG Wagon Events, an event support business. Before race directing, Lorrie worked for the National Park Service as a Park Ranger and Wildland Firefight and also North Olympic Land Trust.
A long-time tandem rider with her husband David, she has a passion for tandem cycling and hosted the 2023 tandem rally in Sequim. Lorrie was active on the NWTR Board of Directors for 4 years, and is co-hosting the 2027 event with Scott and Ginger and will bring her tandem rally knowledge to the event.
