Description - Mayor's Cup 5K

Join Sunrise Rotary for the Mayor's Cup 5k at the Plattsburgh City Beach on Saturday, July 12 at 9:30 a.m., with our kids race at 10:30am! 

Kick off Mayor's Cup weekend with this Saturday morning race!  This two-loop course will start and end at the Plattsburgh City Beach and will take place on the scenic Heritage Trail and Karen Fleury Bike Path (both trails are paved).  The race ends right at the Plattsburgh City Beach! Participants will receive a special Mayor’s Cup baseball cap. 

Cost to register is $25 ($30 on day of).  All proceeds benefit Plattsburgh Sunrise Rotary.  Prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers.

*(Note, this race will be hand-timed by our dedicated Sunrise Rotary volunteers with results posted online within a few days)

Don't forget to bring the kids!  We will have a FREE kids fun run on the beach, starting at 10:30am!  

Description - Parrots & Pirates Poker Run/Walk

Get ready to feel the Margaritaville vibe at Sunrise Rotary's 2nd Annual Parrots & Pirates Poker Run/Walk. Honor Jimmy Buffett in style – wear your wildest tropical or pirate-themed attire and join the fun! The Naked Turtle, at 1 Dock Street in Plattsburgh, will be the first stop with mandatory check-in beginning at 2:00 pm and the Run/Walk starting at 3:00 pm. Plenty of free parking is available in and around the marina area.

After The Naked Turtle, the featured stops are strategically placed in Plattsburgh’s historic downtown (Bobby's, Buster's, Hobie's and Olive Ridley's). Participants even have the option to stroll along the Saranac River Trail on their way in or out of town if they prefer! The run/walk ends at the Sunrise Rotary tent at the Plattsburgh City Marina (2 Dock Street), where there will be a live band playing, a kayak paddle party for you to watch along the waterfront, a tarot card reader, and all sorts of other activities and games to enjoy! Also, the sailors and their crew that compete in the Mayor’s Cup Sailing Regatta will be at the marina enjoying all the festivities while they wait for the awards ceremony to begin at 6:00pm. 

At the time of check-in participants will have the opportunity to buy tickets for a 50/50 raffle and purchase an extra playing card in the hopes of improving their poker hand! The grand prize for the winning hand (split in the event of a tie) will be 15% of all registration fees collected for this event. Proceeds from the Parrots & Pirates Poker Run/Walk support Sunrise Rotary’s funds for community projects.

Cost to register is $35.
