The Chocolate Trail Bike Ride is an all-ages, family-friendly ride where your love for chocolate is just as important as your love for cycling. Choose from 7, 22, and 60 mile routes, each of which have chocolate stops along the way. The ride begins in downtown Xenia and takes you on the road until the halfway point where you'll take the scenic route on the bike path. All finishers are welcome to stay downtown for their final delicious chocolate stop. A portion of the proceeds will go toward revitalization efforts in downtown Xenia.
7 mile - 1 chocolate stop + bonus chocolate at the finish line
22 miles - 2 chocolate stops + bonus chocolate at the finish line
60 miles - 4 chocolate stops + bonus chocolate at the finish line: Please note that, due to the Community Festival Parade route, this route has changed from 60 miles to 55 miles in total.
Here are a few things to note prior to your arrival to downtown Xenia on September 14.
Packet pick-up will be held on Friday, September 13th from 5:00-7:30pm and Saturday, September 14th from 7:00-7:45am at the Coffee Hub, located at 81 E. Main St. Xenia, OH.
Saturday Morning Parking
The Xenia Community Festival is being held alongside the Chocolate Trail Bike Ride, so downtown street parking will be limited Saturday morning. To ensure a parking space, we encourage you to park in the large parking lot behind Arby’s (160 W. Main St.). Once parked, you will then walk/ride about three blocks east to the Coffee Hub entrance. Part of Main Street will be closed, so it should be a quick, easy, and safe trip from the parking lot to the starting line.
All cyclists, regardless of the route chosen, will begin at the same point at the same time and will head in the same direction. You will see directional signs throughout the routes notifying riders for each route when the appropriate time to turn and/or enter the bike path will begin.
Please note that, although the streets in downtown Xenia will be closed, once you leave the downtown, the roads will be open to vehicles. For your safety, it is important for you to obey all traffic laws and to keep an eye out for vehicles. All routes are mostly flat with some rolling hills, so visibility should be mostly unobstructed. Each rider, regardless of the route, will spend about half of the time on the road, while the other half will be on the well-maintained bike path.
In Case of Emergency
At the Chocolate Trail Bike Ride, we want all riders to feel safe. If you experience any difficulties while cycling or notice anyone who may be in need, please call 937-238-0007, and a driver will arrive to either aid in bike repairs or take you straight to the finish line
This bike ride is not a timed race. Please ride at your leisure and take the time to enjoy all of the chocolate treats that are offered throughout the ride. The 7-mile route will have one chocolate stop; the 22-mile route will have two chocolate stops; and the 60-mile route will have four chocolate stops during the ride. All cyclists are invited to stay at the finish line for a final additional chocolate stop and free hot dogs. Water will also be available at most of the chocolate stops. All riders, friends, and family are welcome to stay at the finish line (Xenia Station) for as long as desired. The Xenia Community Festival is also taking place Saturday. Feel free to enjoy that event, as well. Information on the Xenia Community Festival can be found here: https://www.xacc.com/xenia-community-festival.html
A portion of the proceeds from the event goes toward the revitalization of downtown Xenia. We hope you are able to spend time in the area and that you enjoy your stay.
