Description

New name, same fun event!

To distinguish this important fundraising event from other Delaware & Lehigh National Heritage Corridor (DLNHC) events that aren't fundraisers, we've changed the name, but the event is still the same! New this year: You'll get a $10 discount if you sign up for two events, for example, walk and bike!

Like past years, the main level challenges runners and walkers to complete at least four cumulative half-marathon (13.1-mile) distances, a total of 52.4 miles. Cyclists are challenged to complete the length of the D&L Trail, a total of 165 miles during the month (or 41.25 miles a week). These are great goals for anyone just starting out or trying to get into a regular exercise routine. You can accrue the miles anywhere; they don't have to be on the D&L Trail itself.

The super level challenges avid runners and walkers to complete a marathon (26.2 miles) every week for a total of 104.8 miles and challenges avid cyclists to complete two lengths of the D&L Trail (330 miles). This challenge is for experienced walkers, runners, and cyclists who've crushed the event in past years or motivated newcomers.

Miles can be accrued over several workouts on the 165-mile D&L Trail or somewhere else, any time between April 1 and April 30. You select where, when, and how, then register your miles easily on RunSignup’s website. We'll be giving out weekly incentives to motivate you to log your miles!

100% of proceeds from the D&L Trail-A-Thon will support trail building and programming along the wonderful D&L Trail. If you love the D&L Trail and our region's great outdoor areas, we ask you to join us in this year’s event. Please consider creating your own fundraiser in support of the D&L Trail too! It's easy to do! On the donate page, choose "Become a Fundraiser" and share with family and friends!

A real-time Leader Board will engage your competitiveness. You can race against a personal mileage goal or simply participate for fun and fitness. No matter where you are on the Leader Board, as long as you log at least one mile a week, you'll be eligible for incentive rewards.

***Disclaimer: Do not run, walk, or bike on unsafe or closed roads (trails, roads, parks). Follow all guidelines and requirements set forth by local, state, and federal agencies. This is a virtual event only, not a mass gathering. ***

Logging Your Miles

You will be logging your miles directly into the RunSignup system.  You will get an email with instructions for you to upload directly.  If you do not get the email, follow the instructions below. You will not be able to enter data until your challenge start date.  If you are having any trouble, please contact Michele Stanten.

  1. Log into RunSignup first. If you are not logged in, you cannot post results.  If you were already logged in and having trouble, try logging out of RunSignup and then logging back in again.  If you forgot your password, you can have it reset: https://runsignup.com/Login.
  2. Go to "LOG MY MILES" on the main page, search for your name and click Lookup Registration.
  3. This will bring you to your information.  You can then click on "Submit Virtual Results"
  4. You MUST enter the Date and Distance for your run, bike or walk. The comment box is optional and is for your reference only.  We will not be reviewing the info in that field.
  5. If you had multiple workouts that day, you can enter each new run/bike/walk by clicking the "Add Another Activity" button. If you do 2 runs/bikes/walks in 1 day, you can add them together or separately, whichever you prefer. You can update your time and miles daily, every other day, once a week, or whatever you prefer.
  6. Do not forget to hit submit results when you are done!

FAQ

Q: What miles count?

A: Miles that are earned while you are exercising between the dates of April 1 - April 30. Incidental miles like walking to the mailbox or wandering around the grocery store do not count. Please only log miles that are put forth in an exercise effort.

Q: How do I log my miles?

A: See instructions above, "Logging Your Miles." We'll also email you info on that before the Trail-A-Thon begins on April 1st but know that you can log miles from this website or by the link provided in your registration. We promise it's easy!

Q: Do I have to be in Pennsylvania to complete the event?

A: No! You can complete the event from anywhere in the world!

Q: Can I run, walk, or bike on trails?

A: Yes! Running, walking, hiking, or biking on any surface counts - roads, trails, greenways, treadmills, or trainers.

Q: What if I'm signed up for other virtual events?

A: If you're participating in a virtual race like a 5K or 10K between the dates of April 1 - April 30, you can also count those miles toward your D&L Trail-A-Thon distance!

Q: Can I complete the Trail-A-Thon with friends?

A: Yes! We would love for you to get your friends involved. However, each person must register individually. There are no relay teams in this event.

Q: When do I have to have all my miles logged in?

A: The D&L Trail-A-Thon ends at midnight on April 30. Please record all miles by 11:59 pm on May 1.

Q: When will I get my shirt?

A: If you ordered a t-shirt, it will be available for pick-up at the National Canal Museum in Easton, PA. An email will be sent with additional information on available pick-up dates and times once the t-shirts have been ordered. If you cannot pick up your shirt, it will be mailed after May 15.
