5K and 10K Courses
The Race for Campus Safety 5K and 10K events offer a longer-distance option for runners and walkers looking to engage more fully in the day’s activities. The 5K course follows a single loop through the eastern part of WSU’s campus, passing landmarks such as Ferdinand’s and the Bear Center, and includes a mix of flat sections and gentle inclines along paved roads, pathways, and a stretch of gravel on Animal Science Road. The 10K consists of two laps around the same 5K route, offering a greater challenge while maintaining the same scenic and well-supported environment. Both events are open to all experience levels and will be chip-timed, with volunteers stationed throughout to guide participants and ensure a safe, smooth race experience.
1K Course
The Race for Campus Safety 1K is a short, accessible event held on the WSU VETMED parking lot course, consisting of two laps on a flat, paved loop. Divided into two groups, the 1K offers a fun run for kids 12 and under, giving younger participants a chance to join the day’s activities in a safe, supportive environment. It’s also open to adults who want to participate without committing to a longer 5K or 10K, providing a low-key way to show support for campus safety efforts. Whether walking or jogging, participants will follow a clearly marked route surrounded by volunteers and community members.
