FAQ

Welcome to the Summer Trail Fest Ultra (STFU) 50K, Half Marathon, and 5 Mile FAQ page. Whether you’re a first-timer, seasoned ultrarunner, or curious rucker, this guide covers everything you need to know before race day.
General Race Information
When is the race?
STFU takes place on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Sleepy Hollow State Park in Laingsburg, Michigan.
What distances are offered?
- 50K Ultramarathon (run or ruck)
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles) (run or ruck)
- 5 Mile (run or ruck)
What is a ruck division?
Ruckers carry a weighted pack or vest: 20 lbs if under 150 lbs bodyweight, 30 lbs if over 150 lbs. All three distances have ruck divisions. Learn more about rucking at GORUCK.
How do I register?
Register online! On site race day registration is available but medals may not be available and shirt sizes may be limited.
Can I switch my race distance? I'm supposed to run the 50K but I need to change to the Half Marathon.
You can switch your event registration by following these instructions.
Can I add or change the club/team I'm racing with?
Yes, just follow these instructions. If it's within two weeks of the race, and you were notified your team has VIP status, you need to email Megan at megan@triviumracing.com or your packet will not be pre-pulled.
How do I update my profile or emergency contact information?
Just follow these instructions.
Course & Cutoffs
What is the course like?
The course is 90% smooth, groomed trail with minimal technical terrain—perfect for beginners but still fast enough for veterans chasing a PR.
What are the cutoff times?
- 50K: Course open 7:30 am - 5:50 pm. 20:00/mile cutoff pace. 12:40 pm hard cutoff at mile 15.5, Aid Station 6.
- Half Marathon: Course open 7:30 am - 5:50 pm. 45:00/mile cutoff pace.
- 5 Mile: Course open 8:00 am - 5:50 pm. Generous cutoff—plenty of time to finish!
What's the elevation like?
- 50K: ~1,100 feet of gain
- Half Marathon: ~500 feet of gain
- 5 Mile: ~132 feet of gain
Will the course be marked?
Yes. Trivium Racing is known for over-marked trails. Even if you’re pushing the pace, it’s very hard to get lost at STFU. If you know you tend to stare at your feet, then just study the course markings in the Athlete Guide and pay attention to the awesome volunteers yelling directions!

Do I need a crew?
No crew required! The aid stations provide everything you’ll need to finish strong and our volunteers are super supportive.
